Prof. Li Yok Sheung

I guess I am one of those few who have first-hand knowledge of the development of the Department from its humble beginning to the present status of a world-class centre of teaching and research in the area of civil and environmental engineering. I joined the Department in September 1984. At that time, the Department had just initiated its first few research projects, funded by the Croucher Foundation. I was involved in the project in collaboration with the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology in Guangzhou on measurement of sea waves in the South China Sea. I was also one of those lecturers who taught the first batch of civil engineering degree students, admitted in the summer of 1984. Time flies! Congratulations to its jubilee!
