Congratulations to Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) & Chair Professor of Steel Structures, for receiving the Kurobane Lecture Award at the 18th International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS 18) held by Tsinghua University, Beijing, China from 17 to 20 October 2023. This Symposium has a long-standing reputation for being the principal showcase for tubular structures and the prime international forum for discussion of research, developments and applications in this field.
Inaugurated in 1988 at ISTS 8, the Kurobane Lecture Award is a prize recognising international achievement and acclaim in the field of tubular structures. This esteemed award takes the form of a Keynote Address to the ISTS, known as the "Kurobane Lecture". Prof. Young was invited to deliver the 11th Kurobane Lecture at the ISTS 18 in recognition of his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of tubular structures, and his continuing encouragement to expedite and widen research activities on tubular structures. During this lecture, Prof. Young shared his insights and expertise on “Cold-Formed High Strength Steel Tubular T- and X- Joints” with the attendees.
