I am deeply honoured to have been nominated for the CEE Entry Scholarships for Outstanding HKDSE Students.
I was fortunate enough to have participated in laboratory visits held by CEE during last year's info day. The pioneering technology in 3D-printed concrete walls deeply impressed me, and made me realise how Engineering at PolyU is a world-leading and highly-competitive programme. I am excited and look forward to equipping myself for my profession in civil engineering at PolyU.
When I was considering my JUPAS choices, I set my priorities according to my academic interest and the career support that universities offer. I was attracted to the Civil Engineering programme by CEE because it not only provides undergraduates with comprehensive learning environments, but also values practical skills in the profession.
Transitioning from secondary school to university was a challenge for me. I was not used to the university’s learning style, where we are encouraged to actively seek help from professors, peers, and even the Internet. Unlike the fixed study schedule arranged by my secondary school, I am allowed to explore many subjects outside my majors to widen possibilities for learning and my future career. Meanwhile, the flexible time schedule means that I need to put more effort into self-discipline and time management to achieve academic development. I find it challenging, but fortunately, the friends I made in student association activities and the classmates I met in group lessons have brought me a lot of joy and encouragement amid PolyU’s vibrant university life.
