Aims and Characteristics

Programme Aims, Learning Outcomes and Characteristics

This programme aims to nurture well-rounded civil engineering graduates who are conversant in environmental, geotechnical, hydraulic, structural and transportation engineering, in addition to construction management. Graduates will be able to plan, design, construct and manage interdisciplinary civil engineering projects that involve complex commercial, environmental, social and legal considerations.

Full accreditation has been granted by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). Graduates of this programme are expected to be qualified for Corporate Membership of HKIE after appropriate trainings. Graduates are eligible to join Scheme A training of HKIE in the following disciplines:

  • Civil Discipline
  • Environmental Discipline
  • Geotechnical Discipline
  • Structural Discipline
  • Logistics & Transportation Discipline (on condition that the graduates must have completed (i) “CSE30312 Transportation and Highway Engineering” and (ii) one of “CSE40407 – Design of Transport Infrastructure” or “CSE40408 – Traffic Surveys and Transport Planning”)
