根據學校的規定，學生畢業前最少要修讀一科附有中文閱讀及寫作(以下簡稱CR & CW)的通識科目(CAR)，並完成相關要求，才能完成大學的R & W Requirement畢業要求。

一是提升學生閱讀學術論文、專書、參考資料的能力；二是提升學生撰寫學術論文或臻達大學水平讀書報告的能力。

CR & CW 主要分為兩個部份，一是自習教材，二是寫作作業評改及指導。

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. 同學必須把文稿上傳到Blackboard上遞交。第一文稿為700字，字數不足不扣分；第二文稿為2000字，若字數不足2000字，扣0.5分；不足1500字，扣1分。

同學可以按所修讀 CAR 課程選取連結，觀看講解短片，按照指定的步驟把文稿上傳到Blackboard上。同學需要留意，每次上傳文稿都必須按「SUBMIT」鍵來完成工作，如只按「SAVE」，導師是無法收到文稿的。若遇到無法解決的情況，請到「聯絡支援」中找我們的技術支援。

第一文稿遲交及欠交均不會扣分，但若在第一次導修完結後才呈交，導師將不予批改。
第二文稿在「二稿限期」後才遞交，扣1分；最終沒有在「二稿補交限期」前遞交，作欠交論，CW 將獲0分。

我們會安排兩次指導周，為同學提供一對一的作業指導，屬自願參與。同學如認為有需要的，可在指導周開始前，到CLC網頁報名 https://www.polyu.edu.hk/clc/slubooking，在導師提供的時間表上選擇合適的出席時間。如所有時間皆不合適，請與CW導師直接聯絡，再作安排。

同學應馬上聯絡指導老師（在Blackboard https://learn.polyu.edu.hk 的CWT頁面左欄「聯絡我們」可找到），詢問批改稿發還情況。

CW佔所修讀的CAR 學科總成績的10%。

R & CW的第一文稿是不算分的，評分是以第二文稿為準。導師會根據以下三大原則評改同學的文稿：
1. 用詞 30%
2. 造句 30%
3. 行文 40%
請注意：評改不涉及作業內容。作業內容將由授課老師負責。

CR & CW的及格分為4分，若成績不足4分，將視為不及格。

同學應先找導師商討（報名指導，或直接聯絡）。如最終無法達至共識，同學可在成績出了後，向學系正式申請成績申訴(appeal)，我們會按既定程序處理。

CW不及格有機會導致相關的通識科目學期論文/讀書報告總體成績不及格。若通識科目學期論文/讀書報告總體成績不及格，則整科通識科目將視作不及格，同學必須重修另一科通識科目，以滿足大學畢業的要求。

但若CW不及格而通識科目學期論文/讀書報告總體成績能達至及格，而整個通識科目最終獲得及格成績，仍算通過大學R & W Requirement畢業要求。
