Data science (DS) and artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly growing fields with enormous potential for innovation and societal impact. To position the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) as a leader in the said fields, the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) was officially established in July 2024.

With aims of shaping the future of data science and artificial intelligence and equipping individuals with the tools to make informed decisions, drive innovation, and tackle complex challenges in an ever-evolving world, DSAI is committed to nurturing talented individuals at all levels, shaping them into accomplished DS and AI professionals, and to translate knowledge generated into practical applications for the betterment of society as a whole.

Our strategic goals include (a) attracting top-tier researchers and students, (b) enhancing student learning experiences, (c) facilitating high-impact research, and advancing interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships.

DSAI will strive to drive advancements in DS and AI through diverse aspects, nurture talent, pursue impact research, and explore potential partners in our teaching and research endeavors.
