Public Lecture Series on “New Directions in Premodern Chinese Studies”

Funded by the Sin Wai Kin Chinese Humanities Development Fund, this public lecture series aims to introduce the latest trend in the study of premodern China to audiences inside and outside academia.
During the first half of 2023, the Department of Chinese Culture successfully held four public lectures delivered by scholars based in Macau, Mainland China, USA, and Hong Kong.
The four lectures attracted more than 500 online and offline attendees in total. Topics covered include “The Latest Scholarship on Tao Yuanming Studies in North America,” “New Methods in the Study of Mathematical Literature in Early China,” “The Water Margin and the Transformations of Chinese Novel,” and “Pre-History of Digital Humanities in Chinese Academia.”
