Fast-track Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programme

Programme Overview

The MSc in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) aims to broaden and deepen students' knowledge and expertise in the field of MLS. This programme introduces students to advances in selected areas of diagnostic laboratory techniques ensuring them to remain at the forefront of the profession.

Upon successful completion of the MSc programme, graduates will be equipped to apply critical analysis and problem-solving skills to various professional scenarios. They will also demonstrate a higher level of professional competence, enabling them to effectively navigate the rapid changes in practice. Students can also develop essential skills that prepare them for managerial roles within their professional settings. Subject to final confirmation, this programme is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK).

The Fast-track Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programme offers an accelerated pathway for students to pursue dual degrees simultaneously, the unique structure not only allows graduates to register as Medical Laboratory Technologist (Part II) but also enhances their qualifications for career development and advancement.

Entry Path and Admission Requirements

Attained a GPA of 3.30 or above at the end of Semester 2 of Year 2

Normal Study Duration

Students enrolled in the Fast-track programme can normally complete both Ug and TPg programmes in full-time mode within 5 years. 

4 years for Ug + 1 year for TPg

Level 5 master’s degree subjects to be included in the Ug curriculum

Fast-track programme students can take up to 9 credits (30% of the credit requirement of the TPg curriculum) from the following Level 5 subjects within their Ug curriculum, and these credits will count towards the TPg programme award.

Maintain Enrollment in the Fast-track Programme

Students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above to stay on the Fast-track Programme.
