Programme Overview
Medical physics is an interdisciplinary field in which the concepts and methods of physics are applied to the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. Our programme was launched in 2020 as Hong Kong’s first postgraduate programme dedicated to medical physics and received accreditation from the International Organization for Medical Physics in 2024. The scope of the programme includes radiation therapy, diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine, and medical health physics, which fulfil the educational requirements for a medical physicist. The curriculum is designed to align with the international standards of medical physics graduate education. Our programme is recognized by the Hospital Authority for promotion to Radiation Therapist I and Radiographer I. For promotion to Radiographer I, three elective subjects should be chosen from those relevant to diagnostic radiography. Fast-track programme provides a good opportunity to acquire both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree simultaneously within a short time, which will allow you not only to register as Part II Radiographer and but also to be ready for promotion.
