The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) Long Service Award Ceremony 2024 was successfully held on 21 February 2025 to honour 507 dedicated long-serving staff members, who have reached their milestones of 5 years or above, for their loyal service to the University over the years.

The ceremony was a testament to the enduring quality of PolyU staff members, and a heartfelt tribute to their dedication and loyalty. By the end of 2024, 88 staff members have served the University for 15 years, 36 have served for 20 years, 36 for 25 years, 50 for 30 years, 18 for 35 years, and 3 staff members for 40 years long. Each award recipient received a certificate and a souvenir from President Prof. Jin-Guang Teng on behalf of PolyU as a token of appreciation from the University.

Prof. Teng, also an award recipient this year who has served the University for 30 years, expressed his sincere appreciation to the contributions by all the long-serving staff to the University, and highly commended their devotion and excellent service.

As we celebrate the remarkable achievements, we speak to two recipients of the Long Service Award, Prof. Haiyan SONG and Prof. FU Siu-ngor, who are both esteemed faculty staff members and have served PolyU for 20 years and 30 years respectively, on their work as well as their reminiscences at the University.

Library Assistant Ms Lam Yuen-lan has served the University for 40 years.

The Long Service Award scheme was introduced in 1990 to recognise staff members who have served the University for five years or more and to foster their sense of belonging to the University. The award presentation ceremony also provides a warm gathering for the long-serving staff and an opportunity for the University to publicly acknowledge their years of dedicated service.
