My broad areas of research interest are sociolinguistics, the social psychology of language, and intercultural communication.

I am also interested in combining quantitative approaches to the study of language and communication (surveys and corpora) with qualitative approaches (discourse analysis and narratology), and to explore how research on language and intercultural communication can translate into social activism.

My most recent research has focused on two thematically diverse areas: trauma storytelling in domestic migrant worker narratives, and international students’ experience of intergroup communication.
