A PolyU delegation led by Prof. Benny C. F. Throughout the visit, they exchange views with the Wenzhou Municipal Government leaders, and follow up with the construction process of the Research Institute.

The Research Institute successfully registered on 2 Feb., 2024, and obtained the business license in Wenzhou. The signing and unveiling ceremony of the Research Institute was held on 9 Nov., 2023, officially establishing the Research Institute in Wenzhou. As the first university in Hong Kong to collaborate with Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government in setting up a technology and innovation research institute, it aims to promote innovation and technology development in the Southeastern coastal region. It specifically addresses the industrial development needs within the Nation.

The Research Institute will engage in close collaborations with local key industries across marine engineering equipment and technology, flexible electronics, and ultra-precision machining technology. As a result, it could advance the development of core technologies, research transformation, talent nurturing, innovation and entrepreneurship, and contributing to the high-quality economic development of the cites.
