Visit by the Guangdong Provincial Government delegation

A delegation led by Mr. WANG Xi, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province visited PolyU on May 21 to have an exchange meeting and receive updates on the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint Laboratories.

Prof. Wing-tak WONG, Deputy President and Provost of PolyU welcomed the delegation. During the meeting, the principal investigators from the joint laboratories led by universities in Hong Kong provided updates on their respective research works and shared valuable views. 

Prof. XIA Yong, Professor of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of PolyU, and Prof. LU Chao, Chair Professor of Fiber Optics of PolyU, delivered presentation on the Joint Research Centre for Marine Infrastructure and the Photonics Research Institute, respectively. The laboratories aim to bring together outstanding researchers and maintain PolyU's interdisciplinary research excellence, with the goal of becoming leading research and technology transfer hubs. It is intended to implement the research findings in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and beyond, while also nurturing scientists  through education and mentorship.

The delegation also toured Structures Laboratory, 3D Printing Laboratory and Carbon Neutrality Laboratory at PolyU. Throughout the site visit, the delegation gained valuable insights into the scientific excellence and laboratory facilities in the University.
