The Research Institute for Smart Ageing (RISA) was established in 2021 to address the key societal challenge caused by the ageing population in Hong Kong and around the world. Gathering over 30 members across 18 academic departments and units at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), RISA strives to facilitate disciplinary collaboration for impactful research and development in the smart ageing area.
RISA is structured with 5 key research themes, including smart health, smart intelligence, smart mental health, smart environment, and smart society as cutting-edge research priorities in ageing. Transcending the boundaries of particular disciplines, the multi-disciplinary specialized working group will contribute to the research of the mechanisms of ageing and ageing-related diseases, research, development, and promotion of smart and innovative solutions for ageing-related concerns and issues.
I invite you to discover more about the RISA by exploring our website, you are also welcome to participate in our activities, contact us for collaboration opportunities, or join us to be a member of RISA. With our joint effort, I am sure the RISA will become a platform and home for smart ageing researchers, not only within PolyU but also reaching working partners in the community, NGO, business, industry and government in Hong Kong for shaping the smart future for the older people in Hong Kong, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (the GBA) and beyond.
