Biography
Dr. Shanshan Wang is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Program Leader of the Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) program at the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also the Secretary of Pi Iota at-Large Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International. Dr. Wang is a registered nurse and nursing researcher. She is a Fulbright Alumna, and has overseas training experiences at Johns Hopkins University (US) and Griffith University (Australia).
Dr. Wang's research expertise lies in the field of gerontological nursing, specifically focusing on dementia care, gerontechnology, evidence-based practice, bibliotherapy, and self-help intervention. She is dedicated to developing and implementing evidence-based interventions to enhance the well-being of older adults, especially those with cognitive impairment and their informal caregivers.
Driven by her passion for advancing knowledge in this domain, Dr. Wang has successfully secured several competitive external research grants, including the General Research Fund (GRF), Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF), the Health and Medical Research Fund Research Fellowship Scheme (HMRF Fellowship), and the Nethersole Institute of Continuing Holistic Health Education (NICHE) Research Grant. She has been honored with the Faculty's (FHSS) Outstanding Young Researcher Award - Individual, as well as the Distinguished Educator in Gerontological Nursing by the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence, United States.
Dr. Wang is committed to publishing high-quality research, as evidenced by her publications in prestigious journals such as Alzheimer's & Dementia, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of the American Medical Directors Association, etc. Furthermore, she actively contributes to academia through her roles as an editorial board member for BMC Nursing and Special Issue Editor for Nursing Open while also serving as a reviewer for esteemed peer-reviewed journals such as The Lancet Healthy Longevity, International Journal of Nursing Studies.
