HKCSS “Youth Internship in Caring Profession for a Brighter Future” Project

This is my first time providing OT services to people with severe mental disabilities. To my surprise, they had much better functional abilities than I thought. Being patient and empathetic is the cornerstone of building rapport with them as they may have difficulties expressing their needs. I felt pleased as some of them could follow instructions and treatment regimes, which was a good way to enhance their quality of life during the pandemic. The wellbeing of the people living in residential care homes should never be compromised during the hard times of the pandemic. I am glad that I have the opportunity to apply what I have learned at PolyU and serve the people in need.
