To nurture a global outlook and to promote national and international networking among our students, the Department has been actively organizing teaching and learning activities to foster studens' all-round development.
Since 1988, clinical placements have been extended from the Hospital Authority to include non-government organizations, such as care and attention homes, special schools and community centres. Student exchange programs with overseas and mainland universities involving clinical placements continue to flourish.
Our students widen their exposure through clinical placements at our strategic partners, such as McGill University, McMaster University, University of Alberta and University of Toronto in Canada; Leeds Metropolitan University, Oxford Brookes University of South Australia in Australia; Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore; Taiwan National University and Chang Gung University in Taiwan; and Beijing DCN Orthopaedic Hospital, China Rehabilitation Research Centre, Nanjing Medical University and Sun Yat-sen University on the mainland.
We provide reciprocal opportunities for clinical training to students from these universities. In addition, we receive students from Harvard University, USA and University of Santo Tomas, the Philippines. Our students enjoy these opportunities for cultural exchange and learning with overseas and mainland students.
We always aim to provide a wide variety of training to promote a global outlook, a sense of national responsibility (for the mainland placements), creative thinking, leadership, analytical abilities, organizational skills and independent problem-solving skills among our students.
