I received my bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in rehabilitation clinical medicine from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2014 and 2017 respectively. The direction of my master’s research is stroke rehabilitation.
The reasons that prompted me to study for a doctorate at RS of PolyU are that RS teaches in English and is in line with rehabilitation teaching and research in the international world. There are many research teams with rich experience in conducting rehabilitation studies here. More importantly, RS is equipped with numerous advanced research facilities, which can provide strong technical support for me to carry out scientific research on rehabilitation. Moreover, PolyU has a high world ranking and a good reputation for quality teaching and scientific research in the world.
My research topic is “Randomized controlled trial of upper limb training with mirror therapy (MT) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to improve upper limb functions in patients with sub-acute stroke.” The findings of my proposed study will provide clinicians and researchers with new insights, knowledge, and evidence regarding the effects of different types of priming methods on motor function recovery in people with stroke, and will eventually benefit stroke survivors with upper-limb impairment. The mechanism part of the study will use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate how two different priming technologies activate the brain and their structural and functional connections. It is hoped that new brain evidence can be provided for future clinical research in stroke rehabilitation.
