Secondary school students who participate in the Speech Contest will benefit from gaining confidence in public speaking, improving communication skills, developing critical thinking skills, enhancing language proficiency, and having the opportunity to win prizes.

The contest will consist of three components:

• Poetry Recitation (2 – 3 minutes; themed)
• Impromptu Speech (2 – 3 minutes)
• Persuasive Speech (5 minutes; themed)

Eligibility criteria: S.5/Grade 11/Year 12 students (in 2023-24 academic year)

Prizes: Trophy and certificate

Remarks:

• Each school can send a maximum of 5 students
• Selected participants will attend compulsory training workshops held on three Saturdays in September on the PolyU campus
• Winners will be given favourable consideration for entry to PolyU
