Summary

If you want to promote collaboration between English language teachers and non-language teachers to expose your students to the use of English in their study of ELAs, then you should consider nominating teachers for the EDB programme. Each school is required to nominate a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 teachers with at least one language teacher and one non-language teacher.

The programme consists of 3 components:

  1. A half day professional development on June 11th at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University looking at these key questions:
    How can we take ownership, contribute and collaborate for enhanced ELA support through the medium of English?
    What can we learn from research in terms of genre, register and the specific language for ELA task development?
    What pedagogical practices are we aligned around successful ELA task development that really engage students?
  2. 24 hours of school based support from September 2024 to February 2025
  3. A half day sharing of good practice in use of English for ELA activities for all participating schools.

How to change classroom practice and increase student engagement in use of English
How to change the learning environment for student-led learning 
How to design effective lessons and materials for ELA lesson
How to develop and adapt learning resources which meet students learning needs
Understanding the knowledge, skills and strategies that make for successful ELA implementation
How to facilitate collaboration between language and non-language teachers in ELA design in a CMI context
