He has been devoted to developing novel electrode materials and establishing the correlation between the microstructure of materials and their corresponding charge storage behaviors. Dr Zhang holds five European patents and two PCT international patents on energy storage materials. He has published over 50 refereed journal papers in the most prestigious journals in the area, including Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Energy & Environmental Science.
