Hong Kong-Singapore Bilateral Workshop – Functional Materials
We are pleased to welcome you to the Hong Kong-Singapore Bilateral Workshop on Functional Materials hosted by the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), which is also one of the celebratory events of the PolyU 85th anniversary.
Functional materials include materials with unique and extreme physical properties that contribute to applications in the fields of thermoelectrics, magnetism, superconductivity, electrochromics and ferroelectrics, etc. It has become one of the hottest research areas in both science and engineering fields.
In the past decade, our colleagues at PolyU has fostered a dynamic and interdisciplinary research in the area of functional materials. Besides research in nanomaterials and advanced fibrous materials & technology, Materials and Sustainable Chemistry (MSC) focuses on efficient renewable energy conversion and storage for sustainable development aligning with industrial interests and the Hong Kong government's Smart City Initiative.
The researchers in functional materials field of both Hong Kong and Singapore sides are well recognized worldwide. Over 24 speakers from Singapore and local universities include National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), City University of Hong Kong and PolyU, and researchers from Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR will share with us their insight and research works in this workshop. We hope that you will enjoy the technical programme about to unfold in the next two days, and that a platform would be developed to explore the possible opportunities of establishing close collaboration relationship with Singapore.
