Professor Z. Xu obtained his PhD from The University of Queensland in 2006. He was Assistant and then Associate Professor with Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark during 2006-2010. He is now a Professor with EE Department, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include smart grid, renewable energy and applications of AI and big data analytics. He has extensive research project experiences involving collaborations with academia, industrial and business sectors. Prof Xu received several awards for research excellence including 2017 State Award in Nature Science from MOE, PR China. He is currently Chairman of IEEE Hong Kong Joint Chapter of PES/IELS/IAS/PELS. He also holds editorships for several top journals e.g. IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.

Siqi Bu received the Ph.D. degree from the electric power and energy research cluster, The Queen’s University of Belfast, Belfast, U.K., where he continued his postdoctoral research work before entering industry. Then he was with National Grid UK as an experienced UK National Transmission System Planner and Operator. He is an Associate Professor with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and also a Chartered Engineer with UK Royal Engineering Council, London, U.K.. His research interests include power system stability analysis and operation control, considering renewable energy integration and smart grid application. He is an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, IEEE Access, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, and Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems. He is a senior member of IEEE, and serves as a Standing Director of IEEE PES Power System Relay and Control Satellite Committee (China), the secretary of IEEE PES Long Range Planning committee, an external examiner of Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, and an advisory expert of TUS-CLP Smart Energy Technology Co. Ltd. and UK Government on Enabling Distribution System Operation Transition Strategies.

Professor Xiaohong Guan received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Control Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1993. He was a senior consulting engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric from 1993 to 1995. He visited the Division of Engineering and Applied Science, Harvard University 1999-2000. Since 1995 he has been with the Systems Engineering Institute at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xian, China, and was appointed as the Cheung Kong Professor of Systems Engineering in 1999, and Dean of Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering since 2008. From 2001 he has also been with the Center for Intelligent and Networked Systems, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and severed the Head of Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, 2003-2008.

Professor Guan is a member of Chinese Academy of Science and IEEE Fellow. His research interests include economics and security of networked systems, optimization based planning and scheduling of electrical power and energy systems, manufacturing systems, etc., and cyber-physical systems including smart grid, etc.

Professor Yanzhao Xie was born in Henan, China, in 1973. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in December 2005

He is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. His research interests include multiconductor transmission lines’ analysis, electromagnetic time-reversal technique, electromagnetic transients in power system, and high-power electromagnetics.

• Mr Yujin Peng joined SGCC in 2009 and he holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Currently the Deputy Head of Training Division of New Energy of SGTC.
• Has been engaged in the development of professional training programs, professional skills training and theoretical training, and research on related scientific and technological projects.

• Mr CUI Xiyou joined SGCC in 2013 and he holds a Master's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Senior Engineer, Senior Lecturer, ATD Master Trainer Program.
• Has been involved in power grid dispatching, accommodation situation of large-scale clean energy, throughout his career.
• A corporate member of Shandong Society for Electrical Engineering, China.
• Currently the Chief responsible for Power Grid Dispatching in SGTC.

• Dr SONG Xinxin joined SGCC in 2013 and received a doctorate degree in electrical engineering and automation.
• In her career, She has been committed to the research of smart grid operation and control, network security, clean energy consumption and other fields.
• Senior engineer, senior enterprise trainer, senior technician, senior expert of SGTC，ATD international training master, leader of smart grid operation and innovation team.
• In recent years, She has undertaken the staff training of the SGCC and has been employed as a guest lecturer of Jinan University and Linyi University.

• Dr LI Xin joined State Grid Corporation of China as business expert in 2013 and he holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physical.
• Research on the characteristics of energy storage lithium-ion batteries, design and optimization technology of liquid flow batteries, simulation modeling of electrical thermal coupling of lithium-ion energy storage batteries, thermal runaway behavior analysis of energy storage system, and fire safety technology of energy storage systems.

• Mr K.K. Lee joined HK Electric as graduate trainee in 1994 and he holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Has been working in distribution network planning throughout his career
• Extensive knowledge in 11-kV / 22-kV distribution network planning, distribution substation design and local regulations
• A core member in upgrading 11-kV system to 22-kV system in HK Electric
• A Corporate Member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers
• Currently the Chief Distribution Planning Engineer (Central) looking after all matters relating to new supply applications in Central area, distribution equipment procurement and 11-kV / 22-kV distribution network planning in HK Island

• Mr Jason Chung joined HK Electric as graduate trainee in 1990 and he holds a B.Sc. Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Has been involved in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems and associated Remote Terminal Units (RTU), supporting power generation, transmission and distribution networks, throughout his career

• Currently the Chief Technical Services Engineer (Computer Hardware) responsible for the engineering computer systems in power system and network in HK Electric. Also responsible for the development of IoT technology in the company.

• Mr P.C. Tang joined HK Electric in 1994 as graduate trainee and he holds a B.Sc. Degree and an M.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Has been involved in construction and maintenance of power transmission and distribution equipment for 10 years
• Has been working in System Control Department since 2005 and has extensive experience in power system operations and system operations planning
• Currently he is the Chief System Operations Planning Engineer looking after operations planning in System Control Department for Generation and Transmission & Distribution systems

• Ms Xu Guangyu received a B.Eng. degree in Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentations from North China Electric Power University, Beijing, China in 2013 and an M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2014.  In the same year, she joined HK Electric as an Assistant Engineer.
• Currently, she is a System Control Engineer (Planning) responsible for operations planning in System Control Department for Generation and Transmission & Distribution systems.  She also has extensive experience in development and improvement of supporting systems for system operations.
• Her research interests are traditional and modern algorithms applied in the reconfiguration of distribution network, economic dispatch of thermal units and power flow control for enhancement and optimisation of Distribution Management System (DMS) and Energy Management System (EMS).
• She is a Chartered Engineer and a member of Institute of Measurement and Control.
