Professor Z. Xu obtained his PhD from The University of Queensland in 2006. He was Assistant and then Associate Professor with Department of Electrical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark during 2006-2010. He is now a Professor with EE Department, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include smart grid, renewable energy and applications of AI and big data analytics. He has extensive research project experiences involving collaborations with academia, industrial and business sectors. Prof Xu received several awards for research excellence including 2017 State Award in Nature Science from MOE, PR China. He is currently Chairman of IEEE Hong Kong Joint Chapter of PES/IELS/IAS/PELS. He also holds editorships for several top journals e.g. IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.

Siqi Bu received the Ph.D. degree from the electric power and energy research cluster, The Queen’s University of Belfast, Belfast, U.K., where he continued his postdoctoral research work before entering industry. Then he was with National Grid UK as an experienced UK National Transmission System Planner and Operator. He is an Associate Professor with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and also a Chartered Engineer with UK Royal Engineering Council, London, U.K.. His research interests include power system stability analysis and operation control, considering renewable energy integration and smart grid application. He is an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, IEEE Access, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, and Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems. He is a senior member of IEEE, and serves as a Standing Director of IEEE PES Power System Relay and Control Satellite Committee (China), the secretary of IEEE PES Long Range Planning committee, an external examiner of Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, and an advisory expert of TUS-CLP Smart Energy Technology Co. Ltd. and UK Government on Enabling Distribution System Operation Transition Strategies.

Professor Xiaohong Guan received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Control Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1993. He was a senior consulting engineer with Pacific Gas and Electric from 1993 to 1995. He visited the Division of Engineering and Applied Science, Harvard University 1999-2000. Since 1995 he has been with the Systems Engineering Institute at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xian, China, and was appointed as the Cheung Kong Professor of Systems Engineering in 1999, and Dean of Faculty of Electronic and Information Engineering since 2008. From 2001 he has also been with the Center for Intelligent and Networked Systems, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and severed the Head of Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, 2003-2008.
Professor Guan is a member of Chinese Academy of Science and IEEE Fellow. His research interests include economics and security of networked systems, optimization based planning and scheduling of electrical power and energy systems, manufacturing systems, etc., and cyber-physical systems including smart grid, etc.

Professor Yanzhao Xie was born in Henan, China, in 1973. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in December 2005
He is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. His research interests include multiconductor transmission lines’ analysis, electromagnetic time-reversal technique, electromagnetic transients in power system, and high-power electromagnetics.
