The University Grants Committee (UGC) announced the results of Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in May 2020, in which PolyU received high ratings in various research areas. PolyU is delighted to see the encouraging results and believes that they are a recognition of the University's dedicated efforts in pursuing research excellence over the years.
Among the 20 units of assessment in which PolyU was assessed, PolyU received outstanding ratings with the highest percentage of 4-star and 3-star ratings for "Materials Science and Materials Technology", "Computer Studies/Science", "Hotel Management and Tourism" and "Economics and Finance". PolyU also performed well in the units of assessment for Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering (incl. PolyU's Optometry, Rehabilitation Sciences and other medical professions have also shown marked improvements in research performance. Details of the RAE 2020 results can be found here.
We are pleased with this year's RAE results, which are an outcome of the hard work and determination of our researchers. PolyU will remain devoted to the pursuit of research excellence for societal impact and we will make reference to the RAE assessment results to identify ways to elevate further our capacity for impactful research that benefits Hong Kong, the Nation and the world.
