Dr Kit Ying CHANResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr CHAN served as a Research Associate with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2020 to 2021, and as Post-doctoral Fellow with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from 2021 to 2022. She is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE) at PolyU. |
Dr Yu GUANAssistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr Yu GUAN’s research career in combustion science and propulsion began at the Institute of Aerospace Propulsion and the State Key Laboratory of Combustion, Internal Flow and Thermo-structure at Northwestern Polytechnical University, where he received his Master’s degree in Astronautical Engineering. He then obtained his PhD degree in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and continued working there as a Postdoctoral Fellow after graduation. |
Mr Simon Tin Chui LIAdjunct Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Mr Simon Tin Chui LI joined the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong Government as an Assistant Operations Officer in 1983. Throughout his service in CAD, Mr LI served in various posts of different job nature, mostly regulatory duties relating to airport standard/safety and security, provision of air navigational services as well as aircraft incident and accident investigation. |
Dr Tianqi WANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr WANG received his BEng degree in Flight Vehicle Design and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 2017 and PhD degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2021. Before joining the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering at PolyU, he was respectively a Research Assistant and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Department of MAE of CUHK from August 2021 to March 2022 and from April 2022 to October 2022. |
Dr Lingxiao WUResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr Lingxiao WU is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at HEC Montreal, Canada. His research expertise and interests mainly lie in the design and implementation of methods that combine operations research and data analytics for solving problems arising in logistics management and transportation, especially in aviation and maritime systems. |
Dr Guohao ZHANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr Guohao ZHANG received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. He received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and his Doctoral degree in Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He was selected by the “Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme” from PolyU. He won the ION GNSS+ Student Paper Award in 2019 and the Best Presentation Award in 2018 by the Institute of Navigation. |
Dr Zijian ZHANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr ZHANG received his Bachelor degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China in 2015, and his PhD degree in Fluid Mechanics from Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020. Before joining the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering as a Research Assistant Professor, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the same department. |
Dr Siyang ZHONGAssistant Professor, Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering Dr Siyang ZHONG is currently an Assistant Professor at AAE, PolyU. Before joining the Department, he worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with a junior fellowship at HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study. He is interested in the fundamental studies of aeroacoustics, aerodynamics, and their applications to practical engineering problems. |
Dr Kenneth Chik Chi CHENGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering Dr Kenneth CHENG received his BASc (first class honor) degree in Systems Engineering from Simon Fraser University, Canada in 2003, as well as MASc and PhD degrees from the Institute of Biomaterial and Biomedical Engineering (IBBME) and Institute of Medical Science (IMS), University of Toronto, Canada in 2006 and 2012, respectively. After his graduation, he has returned to Hong Kong and has worked in the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) before joining the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2022. |
Dr Edmond LAMResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering Dr LAM received his BSc degree in Applied Physics from City University of Hong Kong in 2014 where his research focused on biophysics of alpha-particle in zebrafish embryos via radiation-induced bystander effect. He then obtained his MSc degree in Medical Physics from Duke University in 2017 where he worked on investigating effects of combining radiotherapy and immune checkpoint blockade, known as Radioimmunotherapy, on lung metastasis using mouse model of breast cancer. Dr Lam further received his PhD degree in Medical Physics from PolyU in 2022 where he investigated potential of multi-omics from routine radiotherapy data in prediction adaptive radiotherapy eligibility in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. |
Dr Yuhe YANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering Dr Yuhe YANG obtained his bachelor and master’s degree in Materials Process Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2014 and 2016 and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore in 2020. Before the current appointment, he works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in PolyU. He has substantial research experience in biofabrication, biomaterials and tissue engineering. So far, he has published 22 articles (with 10 as first or co-first authors) in prestigious journals including Nat. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Biomaterials, Small. In addition, he has applied 15 patents (11 granted). His project “Biomimicking Photocrosslinkable Nanocomposite Bone Graft” has won the Silver Medal at the Special Edition 2021 Inventions Geneva. |
Dr Gong CHENResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr CHEN received his PhD degree in artificial intelligence from Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and got the postdoctoral fellowship in entrepreneurship with excellent performance. His research areas include brain-computer interface, affective computing, and computer music. |
Dr Kai Fung CHUResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr CHU received the PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and the MSc (Distinction) and BEng (First Class Honors) degrees in Electronic and Information Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include artificial intelligence, optimization, intelligent transportation systems, and autonomous vehicles. |
Dr Jingcai GUOResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr GUO received his PhD degree from PolyU in 2021. Previously, he received his MEng degree (2015) from Waseda University, Japan, and his BEng degree (2013) from Sichuan University, China, all in Computer Science. Dr GUO is generally interested in machine learning and edge AI, with a particular focus on zero/few-shot learning, federated learning, representation learning, and model compression. |
Dr Zecheng LIResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr LI received his PhD degree from Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his BEng degree from School of Information Science and Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China. His research interests are blockchain security, smart contract security, and trusted execution environment. |
Dr Xingye LUResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr LU was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, The University of Hong Kong. Dr LU obtained her PhD degree from Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and BEng degree from Southeast University, China. Her research interest includes applied cryptography, post-quantum cryptography and blockchain security. |
Dr Jibin WUAssistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr WU received Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and PhD degree from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2016 and 2020, respectively. His research interests broadly include brain-inspired artificial intelligence, neuromorphic computing, computational audition, speech processing, and machine learning. |
Dr Haiyang XUEResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr XUE received his PhD degree from the Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. He is interested in the theory and applications of cryptography, which cover post-quantum cryptography, multiparty computation, and zero-knowledge proof. |
Dr Hongwei YONGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr YONG received his PhD degree from the Department of Computing at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2022 and received his MSc degree and BSc degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 2016 and 2013, respectively. His research interests focus on the research areas of computer version, deep learning, and machine learning. |
Dr Zhaorui ZHANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Computing Dr ZHANG received her PhD degree from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong. She received her BEng Degree in Computer Science, from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. She is broadly interested in the building and optimization of AI systems (MLSys) from both sides of the system and machine learning algorithms based on a wide range of computing platforms for emerging big data and AI applications. |
Professor Chi Yung CHUNGHead of Department and Chair Professor of Power Systems Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering Professor CHUNG received the BEng degree (with First Class Honors) and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in 1995 and 1999, respectively. He has worked for the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK, Canada; Powertech Labs, Inc., Surrey, BC, Canada; the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada; and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China. His research interests include smart grid, micro grid, renewable energy, power system stability/control, planning and operation, applications of advanced optimization methods, power markets and electric vehicle charging. |
Dr Xin YUANResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering Dr Xin YUAN received the BEng and MSc degrees in 2013 and 2016, respectively. In 2020, he received the PhD degree in electrical engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. During his PhD period, he worked as a Research Associate in PEMC group, University of Nottingham, UK from January 2019 to January 2020. |
Dr Yangxi ZHANGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering Dr Yangxi ZHANG received the BS degree in Microelectronics and BA degree in Economics from the Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2010. He received his PhD degree in Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2016. Since 2016, he has been with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Currently, he is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Professor George Q. HUANGChair Professor of Smart Manufacturing, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Prior to joining ISE, Professor HUANG was Chair Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Head of Department in Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at The University of Hong Kong. He gained BEng and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Southeast University (China) and Cardiff University (UK) respectively. Dr Ming LIResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Prior to joining ISE, Dr LI was a Lecturer at School of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, Jinan University and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the HKU-ZIRI Laboratory for Physical Internet (pi-Lab), The University of Hong Kong. Dr C.H. WONGResearch Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering After Dr WONG obtained his PhD degree (Superconductivity) at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, he conducted intensive research on carbon-based materials at Ural Federal University (Russia) as a Lead Scientist. One of his scientific publications had allowed him to obtain the migration status of "Highly Qualified Specialist", which was rewarded by the Russian Government. |
Professor Liqiu WANGChair Professor of Thermal-Fluid and Energy Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering Professor L. Q. “Rick” WANG received his PhD from University of Alberta (UA; Canada), and his MEng and BEng from Shandong University (SDU; China). He joined Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in December 2022 as Chair Professor of Thermal-Fluid and Energy Engineering. Prior to this, he was Chair Professor of Thermal-Fluid Sciences and Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Programme at the University of Hong Kong. |
