Representations of climate change in news media: A Corpus-assisted Discourse Study. The 7 International Conference on Ecolinguistics. School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, 22-26 August 2024.
Abstract
This report aims to demonstrate how text mining techniques can be applied to the study of ecological discourse, enabling a combination of quantitative and qualitative text analysis on large-scale corpora. Using climate change news reports from China Daily (2001–2020) as a case study, it employs multiple text mining techniques to conduct both synchronic and diachronic analyses, thoroughly exploring the potential of text mining techniques in large-scale ecological discourse research.
