Problematic and Literature Reviews in Academic Writing. Talk Series on Chinese Language, Literature and Culture. Chinese Language Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, 1 November 2024.

Abstract
Academic papers emphasize the importance of "problem awareness" and "literature review." But what exactly is "problem awareness"? Does proposing a "research question" automatically equate to having "problem awareness"? Is a "literature review" merely a compilation of previous research findings? Can "problems" be identified through a "literature review"?

This workshop will use everyday examples and academic papers to guide students in understanding the meaning of problem awareness and literature review. Through this talk, students will gain insight into the academic requirements of thesis writing and enhance their academic writing skills.
