“The (Im)Possibilities of Art Archives: Theory and Experience in/from Asia” Online Roundtable and Lecture Series
Events
This online roundtable and lecture series for “The (Im)Possibilities of Art Archives: Theory and Experience in/from Asia” is co-hosted by the Department of Chinese Culture and Hong Kong Arts Development Council between May and September 2022. These events serve as pre-launch promotion for the namesake edited volume, with Dr Pan Lu at CC as the editor-in-chief.
In the events, authors of the book introduce their own chapter that demonstrates the dynamics and self-generative capacity of builders and users of art and visual archives all over Asia. Through their discussion, we are able to trace the practices of artists and curators who apply their specific understanding of archive to their works. The lectures and roundtables, as well as the book, aim to fill the gap in the research, juxtaposition, and focused discussions in the existing literature on art archives in Asia.
The (Im)Possibilities of Art Archives: Theory and Experience in/from Asia is expected to be published in late 2022 or early 2023 by 51 Personae
