Introduction The purpose of the COBRA project is to train the next generation of researchers to accurately characterise and model the linguistic, cognitive and brain mechanisms that allow conversation to unfold in both human-human and human-machine interactions. The network includes world-level academic research centres on language, cognition and the human brain as well as four non-academic partners that include fast-developing SMEs and one world-level company. The partners’ both unique combined expertise and high complementarity will allow COBRA to offer Early-Stage Researchers an excellent training programme as well as very strong exposure to the non-academic sector. |

Introduction The project is a component of a joint R&D project entitled “Holistic Support for ethnic minority students in local kindergartens for effective learning of Chinese.” It is a large scale project involving five parties, including HKU, EdUHK, PolyU, and two NGOs. PolyU is to establish a language learning centre to provide the children with play-based out-of-class learning activities, and to construct an e-resource platform to facilitate the children’s learning as well as data collection and management for the entire project.
