Arginase is an enzyme degrading the amino acid arginine, it has long been studied in anti-cancer research. We recently discovered its therapeutic potential in the treatment of obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and related metabolic disorders (2) Retinoic acid signalling in embryos and development of therapeutic interventions to combat the adverse effects of maternal diabetes and obesity on fetal development. Retinoic acid (RA) is indispensable for normal embryo development and is tightly regulated. Disruption of RA homeostasis can lead to congenital malformations.
