The objective of this project is to pave solid foundations for developing a research platform for new-generation solid atomic catalysts which will ultimately reach the molecular frontier. The most significant scientific achievement of the Lo group is the development of a creative approach that can allow a precise design of catalytic landscape (including both the electronic and geometric characteristics) by modularly assembling multiple mid-to-late 3d and 4d transition metals within various microporous materials. A notable advantage of this system is the facile tuneability in various structural descriptors, for instance, metal nuclearity, constituent composition and tertiary structures around the metal centre(s).
