Congratulations to Dr Shou Dahua of the Institute of Textiles and Clothing and Dr Chang Jinhui, Gail of the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology on receiving two Silver Medals in this year’s International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva - Special Edition 2022 Inventions Geneva Evaluation Days – Virtual Event.
The awarding-winning project of Dr Shou Dahua is “Omni-Cool-Dry™: Skin-like Fabric for Dynamic Thermal and Moisture Management”. Inspired by desert beetles, the new fabric reflects sunlight and emits body heat to cool the skin by 5 °C, it also dissipates sweat three times faster to keep wearers cool and dry.
Another awarding-winning project of Dr Chang Jinhui, Gail is “AkkMore™: a Fungus and Plant Based Supplement Against Obesity or Prediabetes”. AkkMore™ is a nutritional supplements formula drink that aims to improve users’ body conditions by building a healthy microbiome. The drink boosts Akkermansia muciniphila in human guts, reduces metabolic disorders and loses weight. The research team has recently completed animal studies as well as the phase 1 clinical trial in humans.
