Warmest congratulations to Prof. Chai Yang of the Department of Applied Physics for being named one of the top 10 in the Engineering & Technology category for the Falling Walls Global Call! He is invited to compete for the Science Breakthrough of the Year 2024.

Prof. Chai is focusing on breaking through the significant energy efficiency limitations that currently constrain sensory AI systems. His pioneering research develops novel hardware architectures and optimization techniques, enabling the deployment of advanced sensory AI systems in mobile devices, IoT sensors, and edge computing, transforming applications in smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and industrial automation.

The Falling Walls Awards recognize and celebrate innovative research and breakthrough ideas across various fields. Established by The Berlin-based Falling Walls Foundation, the awards foster collaboration and inspire new solutions by connecting researchers, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders worldwide.
