PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition 2025

Eligibility 參賽資格

• Secondary 4 - 5/ Grade 10 - 11/ Year 11 - 12 students in the 2024/25 academic year from schools registered and situated in Hong Kong who possess valid HKIDs;

  持有有效香港身份證，並於2024/25學年就讀於本地註冊及位於香港的中四至中五/ 第10－11級/ 第11－12班學生；

• Each participating team should consist of 3 - 4 students nominated by their secondary school, along with 1 teacher advisor from the same school;

  每支參賽隊伍需經由學校提名，及由3 - 4名來自同一所學校的學生及1位學校導師組成；

• Each school may nominate up to TWO teams for the competition. In view of the overwhelming response from the previous year, the organiser will prioritize accommodating the first team's entry from each school. If the number of entries exceeds capacity, a ballot will be conducted.

  每所學校最多可提名兩支隊伍參加比賽。鑑於去年比賽報名情況熱烈，大會將優先接納各校第一隊隊伍的參賽。若報名隊伍數量超出限額，大會將會抽籤決定參賽隊伍。

Registration 報名

• Online registration will be open from 18 November to 20 December 2024.

  網上報名將於2024年11月18日起至12月20日期間開放。

• Teams should be nominated by schools through the completion of the online registration form.

  參賽隊伍需由學校提名，並填妥網上報名表格。

• This form requires the school name, teacher adviser’s and participating students' details. Please note that the contact email of the teacher advisor will be the primary mode of communication for all related updates.

  網上報名需要填寫學校名稱、學校導師和參賽學生的資料。學校導師的電郵將用作聯絡及接收消息的指定郵箱。

• Once registration has been successfully completed, a confirmation email will be sent by the Faculty of Science.

  成功報名的隊伍將會收到由理學院發出的確認電郵。

• The Hong Kong Polytechnic University reserves the right to accept registration from teams for participating in the PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition. The decision of the organiser will be final and binding on all parties concerned.

  香港理工大學保留接受隊伍參加理大科學青年人才比賽的權利。主辦單位的決定為最終決定，對各方均有約束力。

Online Briefing Session 網上簡介會

• An online briefing session with pertinent details about the competition will be held on 5 December 2024 (Thursday) from 4:30pm to 5:15pm. We encourage interested teachers and students to attend. To register for the briefing session, please click here.
  理學院將於2024年12月5日（四）下午4時30分至5時15分舉行網上簡介會，介紹比賽詳情。歡迎有興趣的老師和學生按此報名參加。

Preliminary Round at PolyU Campus
於理大進行預賽

• Assessment test for participating teams to complete.
  比賽題目以隊伍形式完成。
• The Preliminary Round scores will account for 20% of the Final Competition's results.
  預賽成績將佔決賽成績的百分之二十。
 

Marking Scheme 評分準則

• Two points will be awarded for each correct answer, one point will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and no points will be given for not answering.

  答對加2分，答錯扣1分，不作答不扣分。
  
  

Question Design and Score Distribution 問題設計及得分分配

• Approximately 70% of the questions in this round will be based on the HKDSE curriculum, while the remaining 30% will cover extended knowledge and skills.

  在預賽中，約70%的問題是根據香港中學文憑考試課程設計，其餘的30%涵蓋擴展知識和技能。

Final Competition at PolyU Campus 於理大進行決賽

• Date: 29 March 2025 (Saturday)

  日期: 2025年3月29日（星期六）

• Time: 9am – 6:30pm

  時間: 上午9:00 – 下午6:30

• The Final Competition will consist of four parallel sessions in the following streams: Biology & Food Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

  比賽將分四場進行，分別為：生物與食品科學， 化學，數學，物理。

• All teams will need to complete four tasks within the laboratory facility or classroom, with each task lasting 75 minutes.

  參賽隊伍需要在實驗室或教室中完成 4 項指定任務。 每個任務限時75分鐘。

• All participants must attend all sessions on the PolyU campus in person.

  所有參賽隊伍必須親身出席理大校園參加所有項目。

Prizes 獎項

1. Overall Winning Teams 勝出隊伍

• Champion  – Cash Prize HK$20,000

  冠軍 – 現金獎港幣$20,000 

• First runner-up – Cash Prize HK$10,000

  亞軍 – 現金獎港幣$10,000

• Second runner-up – Cash Prize HK$5,000

  季軍 – 現金獎港幣$5,000

*除了可以獲得豐富的現金獎外，勝出隊伍更能獲得於2025年暑假參與理學院星級教授研究實習的寶貴機會。

2. Teams with Excellent Performance 團隊表現優異獎

• Apart from the overall winners, the teams with excellent performance will each receive a HK$1,000 cash prize.

  除了勝出隊伍外，每隊表現優異的隊伍將獲得現金獎港幣$1,000。

3. Awardees will be given favourable consideration for admission to PolyU.

    得獎者報讀理大將優先獲得考慮。

Adverse Weather Arrangement 惡劣天氣下的安排

The competition will be suspended without prior notice in case of inclement weather i.e. Tropical Cyclone Signal No.8 or above; and/or the Red/Black Rainstorm Signal as announced by the Education Bureau by 7:00 a.m. on any of the competition day. If the competition cannot be conducted as scheduled, teacher advisors will be informed of the follow-up arrangements via email in due course.

The makeup dates are as follows:
Preliminary Round: 19 January 2025 (Sunday)
Final Competition: 30 March 2025 (Sunday)

Updated announcements will also be made on the competition website. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University reserves the right to change or cancel any of the programmes under the PolyU SCIENCE Young Talents Competition if it is affected by adverse weather. The decision of the organiser will be final and binding on all parties concerned.

於任何比賽日期間，如因惡劣天氣(如八號或以上熱帶氣旋信號及/或紅/黑色暴雨信號)，教育局於上午七時前發出停課通知，當天比賽將暫停，我們將適時以電郵通知學校導師後續安排。

有關比賽日程將會順延，安排如下：
預賽：2025年1月19日（星期日）
決賽：2025年3月30日（星期日）

更新公告將在比賽網站上發布。香港理工大學保留受惡劣天氣影響而更改或取消理大科學青年人才比賽的權利。主辦單位的決定為最終決定，對各方均有約束力。
