Dean's Message

It is with great pride to celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of our esteemed faculty members and researchers, who continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and contribute to the advancement of their respective fields.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Li Buyang (AMA), who has been awarded the RGC Research Fellowship for the year 2023/24. This fellowship stands as a testament to Prof. Li’s exceptional research contributions and unwavering dedication to advancing scientific understanding. Additionally, Dr Kathy Leng (AP) has been honoured with the 2023 Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award and named by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Technology Review as one of the “Innovators Under 35” in the Asia Pacific region in 2023. These prestigious recognitions highlight Dr Leng’s outstanding achievements and advancements in science and technology innovation. We hereby offer our warmest congratulations to Prof. Li and Dr Leng for their pursuit of excellence in research.

Furthermore, I am pleased to announce that 34 faculty members have been recognized as among the top 2% most-cited scientists worldwide in their specialities in 2023 (Career-long and single recent year data), as compiled by Stanford University. This prestigious acknowledgement underscores the significant impact and influence of their research contributions on a global scale. I am also thrilled to share that Dr Huang Bolong (ABCT), Prof. Daniel Lau (AP), Prof. Loh Kian-ping (AP), Prof. Tom Wu (AP) and Prof. Yan Feng (AP) have been included in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2023” by Clarivate for their influential research output in their respective fields. These innovative research works from our eminent faculty members exemplify the spirit of exploration and creativity that we strive to foster within our academic community.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates who were presented at the 29th Congregation. This momentous occasion marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. We commend each and every one of our graduates for their outstanding achievements and wish them continued success in their future endeavours.

In conclusion, please allow me to express my sincerest appreciation to our faculty members, researchers, and students for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and invaluable contributions.

我們滿懷自豪，為教職員和研究人員所獲得的卓越成就和貢獻送上祝賀。他們一直不斷突破知識的界限，為各自的領域發展作出無私的奉獻。

首先，我要衷心祝賀應用數學系的李步揚教授獲得「2023/24研資局研究學者計劃」的表揚，以表彰李教授在研究上的卓越貢獻，並在推動科學理解方面不遺餘力。此外，我要祝賀應用物理學系的冷凱博士榮獲「2023裘槎麥德華前瞻科研大獎」及被《麻省理工科技評論》（MIT Technology Review）評選為 2023 年亞太區「35 歲以下科技創新 35 人」，這些獎項均認可了她的傑出科研成就。我們在此衷心祝賀李教授和冷博士兩位對卓越研究成就的追求。

另外，我亦欣然宣布，一共有34位教職員獲史丹福大學評為2023年全球排行前2%獲徵引最多的科學家（職業生涯和單年度數據），為他們的研究以及對全球影響力賦予肯定。此外，我非常高興地宣布，應用生物及化學科技學系黃勃龍博士，應用物理學系的劉樹平講座教授、羅健平講座教授、吳韜講座教授及嚴鋒講座教授都獲科睿唯安評為2023年「最廣獲徵引研究人員」，以表揚他在所屬領域中深具影響力的研究成果。我們優秀的教職員在創新研究中所表現的精神，正正體現出我們一直努力在學術界中培養的那份探索精神和創造力。

最後，祝賀所有參與第29屆畢業典禮的畢業生。這個重要的時刻是多年努力、奉獻和堅持的成果。每位畢業生的成就都值得嘉許，在此我祝願他們在未來的日子中繼續努力，取得成功。
