XU Ningyuan 徐宁远

Studying at PolyU has provided me with an extraordinary experience. It has opened up numerous opportunities for acquiring up-to-date knowledge, engaging in laboratory research and participating in global learning experiences. Recognising my passion for RNA science, Dr Ko Chi-bun offered me an opportunity to join his research team through ABCT’s Premier Internship Programme. The research project focused on the role of tRNA in intra-cellular regulation, allowing me to gain tremendous research experience and make many friends.

I was also sponsored by PolyU when I received a summer internship in 2023 at the Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School in Boston, where I conducted research on corneal scar pathology. It was an exceptional experience, as I learned a lot of laboratory skills and established valuable social connections with overseas colleagues.

In summary, my university life has been diverse. I actively participated in various campus activities, such as serving as a group leader for Non-local Student Services and my study experience at PolyU has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

理大的學習環境讓我接觸到最新的知識領域、科研方法以及環球學習機會。由於我對RNA的研究一直十分感興趣，因此柯子斌博士讓我嘗試進入實驗室實習，並透過Premier Internship Programme參與了tRNA有關細胞內調控機制的研究項目。

2023年的夏天，我更有幸遠赴美國哈佛醫學院隸屬的Schepens Eye Research Institute研究所實習及研究角膜發病機理。期間，我積累了大量寶貴的科研經驗及拓展了不少人脈。

我在理大的生活可謂多姿多彩，當中我曾參與不少校園活動，並成為了非本地學生小組的組長。我衷心感謝理大，讓我同時能夠投入學習以及享受校園生活。
