Despite an early start to gathering their documents, it is not uncommon for applicants to miss the main deadline for submitting a complete set of application documents. If this has happened to you, you may still have the opportunity to submit them by the end of May 2022.

Visit the online admission portal to check whether it is still active. If you haven’t submitted your application yet, you now have to prepare your application documents quickly. Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of HKD450, which is payable at the end of the online application process through a variety of payment methods.

The extended deadline for undergraduate application for international students is 31 May 2022 (subject to availability of study places). What can students expect from the university?

PolyU recognises outstanding students admitted to its full-time undergraduate schemes/programmes by granting them scholarships. Selected applicants are given renewable scholarships of varying amounts, with waivers of up to 100% of tuition fees and up to HKD50,000 per year for living subsidy. These grants are funded by the University, the HKSAR government or donors, and are given on the basis of academic merit, multi-faceted excellence (e.g., prizes/awards received in internationally recognised competitions) and performance in the interview. Click here for details.

PolyU has a two-tier Academic Advising system, assisting students both at the departmental level and at the institutional level, through the Student Affairs Office (SAO). This system aims to guide students towards informed and intelligent academic decisions about their programmes of study, helping them to identify and achieve their academic, professional and personal goals.

PolyU offers an educational path that aligns teaching, learning and assessment tools to the desired learning outcomes. To that end, students participate in a range of credit-bearing and non-credit bearing programmes. All undergraduate students participate in compulsory Work-Integrated Education (WIE) and Service-Learning programmes in a field of their choice. Students enjoy hands-on learning opportunities, which prepare them to apply what they have learnt to society and their future career.

PolyU offers a breadth of opportunities for students to take their learning beyond borders. With global partnerships with about 280 overseas universities/institutions spanning 39 countries and regions, and close to 440 academic collaboration agreements, there is a student exchange arrangement or joint research collaboration that fits each student’s needs.

Tell us which of these opportunities you want to learn more about and we will get back to you.

Student story: The perks of working at Under Armour Hong Kong

Student name: Jo-ann Rose Sanu
I'm from: India
Programme: BBA (Hons) in Global Supply Chain Management, Faculty of Business

Year of study: Year 4

I had the opportunity to complete a work internship at Under Armour for my Work-Integrated Education (WIE) element.

WIE is a credit-bearing programme of work-based learning experience that all undergraduate students at PolyU complete before graduation. The programme places students in organisational contexts relevant to our future professions or in settings that help develop skills that will be valuable in the workplace. We gain the experience of applying what we have learnt to real work settings and developing skills that employers seek. This helps us stand out and stay competitive in a continuously changing world.

I began my 7-month internship at Under Armour in July 2021 and completed it in December 2021. I was part of the Supply Chain Team and had the opportunity to work on many projects focusing on the Asia Pacific region. I worked on improving inventory reporting through the use of data visualisation tools such as Power BI. I also helped map out our supply chain partners and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to improve service levels.

The motto of Under Armour is, ‘The Only Way is Through’, and my colleagues and I made sure we applied this mindset not only to work but also to a range of social activities. We competed in a dragon boat competition during the Mid-Autumn Festival. I personally internalised this lesson and also applied it to the after-work classes offered by Under Armour, such as aerial yoga classes, spin classes and combat training. Work theory does not have to be serious; it can also be fun.

To me, WIE was an opportunity to translate what I had learnt in the classroom into the real world. I gained an understanding of industry practice, which helped me plan my career better and helped me identify the areas where I need to improve. It also allowed me to build a network that will be useful for my future career, providing me with potential work references. Working at Under Armour taught me so much; it was amazing to experience their culture and work with such an inspiring and talented team of people.
