Find your scholarship: Academic and non-academic scholarships

Located in one of the world’s most diverse cities, PolyU has a long history of welcoming students from all over the world. We have seen many students from different nationalities and backgrounds plan their future here and get their graduate career off to a successful start. Different kinds of scholarships based on a variety of factors have been set up specifically for non-local students to finance their education in Hong Kong. Some of the available scholarships are as follows:

Entry Scholarships for Outstanding Admittees

PolyU recognises outstanding students admitted to its full-time undergraduate schemes/programmes by granting them scholarships of varying amounts offered by the University, the HKSAR government or donors on the basis of academic merit, multi-faceted excellence (e.g., prizes/awards received in internationally recognized competitions) and interview performance. Selected applicants will receive a renewable scholarship of up to 100% tuition waiver plus HK$50,000 living subsidy annually!

Cultural Ambassador Scholarship

To further strengthen and enhance our diverse undergraduate student body, the Cultural Ambassador Scholarship has been set up for non-local students from underrepresented nationalities. The one-off scholarship of HK$50,000 is awarded to selected students during their first year of study.

For details about other scholarships, please click here. For details about faculty-/school-based scholarships, please contact the relevant department/faculty directly for the latest information.

Student story: ‘PolyU, a place to make global network with continuous knowledge exchange’

Student name: Moldir Kenzhegul
I'm from: Kazakhstan
Programme: BEng (Hons) in Environmental Engineering & Sustainable Development, Faculty of Construction and Environment

Year of study: Year 3

This programme is the first of its kind to be offered in a Hong Kong tertiary institution with an emphasis on both environmental engineering, including transportation engineering, and sustainable development. Many workshops were organised for freshmen to adapt to the city and the university. I did not experience any difficulties with moving to Hong Kong and then studying at PolyU as an international student. We were informed about different activities and opportunities so that we could work around our schedules and strike a balance between study and leisure. Last year, being the Vice President of the International Student Association allowed me the opportunity to meet and engage with international students from different backgrounds. By hosting more than 10 online chats and events, we tried to make connections and provide services in a virtual environment.

I cannot wait to meet everyone offline! Hope to see you soon and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions! Let us change the face of business together!
