PolyU Design is home to 747 undergraduate students from Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas, offers an integrated curriculum with nine specialisms, and is consistently among the top 20 on the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Art and Design. As the first design school in Hong Kong to offer courses in Service Design at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the School is also attuned to social trends. In addition to the School providing instruction in a wide range of areas to enable students to explore and extend their talents, it initiates various training tracks to allow students to gain experience in interdisciplinary teamwork and take advantage of entrepreneurship opportunities with STEAM and business components: Integrated Designpreneurship Capstone and Cooperative Projects.
Inspiration begins in our landmark building, which houses numerous high-level facilities for design. There are also ample resources available on courses of study, subsidies and exposure opportunities, which provide excellent guidance. If you ask any of our students what they most enjoy about the School, they are sure to mention the campus culture. In particular, we operate in studio mode, which enables students to have their own workspaces. Often, they add a personal touch to their workspaces, and these become havens that allow students to learn, rest and play together — and form lifelong friendships!
Hong Kong is a city of opportunities for creative problem solvers. Like other metropolitan areas worldwide, Hong Kong’s urbanisation and ageing population drive demands for inclusive design and gerontechnology. It is also an international city with problems that must be solved using creative approaches that have the potential to be applied globally. Your journey to becoming an innovative and imaginative problem-solver awaits you at PolyU Design!
