Victor and William Fung Foundation

The Victor and William Fung Foundation was established in 2006 by Dr Victor Fung Kwok-king and Dr William Fung Kwok-lun, respectively Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Fung Group, commemorating the centenary of the Group which includes the listed subsidiary, "Li & Fung Limited", a major player in global supply chain services. Apart from nurturing leadership development through scholarships, fellowships and educational programmes in partnership with universities, the Foundation also fosters thought leadership through research and innovation with think tanks and educational institutions.

The Foundation has been supporting the Service Leadership Initiative (SLI) in the past five years, involving the eight UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong. As a cooperative effort with the Hong Kong Institute of Service Leadership & Management, the Initiative promotes a new model of Service Leadership and learning in the post-industrial Service Economy, preparing students to be effective leaders in their careers and community lives in the ever-changing economic and social landscape.

Looking ahead, for Hong Kong to sharpen its edge in this highlycompetitive and quickly-changing world, it must maintain leadership in the Service Economy. With this in mind, an education which nurtures our youth to excel in and commit to Service Leadership is particularly indispensable. It will stand them in good stead when the time comes for them to assume the mantle of leaders in the Service Economy.

Under the auspices of SLI, the eight UGC-funded universities have published academic papers on related topics and developed an undergraduate curriculum on Service Leadership. Two international conferences on Service Leadership have also been held successfully in Hong Kong. Through the establishment of this Professorship, the Foundation wishes to continue advancing research and development in Service Leadership Education.
