Ir Dr Otto Poon, Outstanding PolyU Alumnus and Chairman of ATAL Engineering Group, recently donated HK$2 million to PolyU to support University development. In recognition of his unstinting support, an appreciation plaque would be put up on the façade of the Alumni Atrium, a new facility for alumni activities and networking on campus.
At the cheque presentation ceremony held on 8 July 2016, PolyU President Prof. Timothy W. Tong thanked Ir Dr Poon for his generosity as well as his valuable advice given to the University on development issues over the years. Prof. Tong emphasised that support from alumni is crucial to the sustainable development of the University.
Located at Core A and spanning across an area of 250m², the Alumni Atrium is a new facility dedicated to the alumni community. It provides a spacious and comfortable environment for leisure, recreation and cultural activities through which alumni can cultivate friendships and foster exchange and partnerships with other stakeholders of the PolyU community. The Alumni Atrium is expected to open by the end of 2016, with the opening being one of the celebratory activities of PolyU’s 80th Anniversary.
