Energy conservation has long been a priority in the context of PolyU’s campus sustainability. PolyU has again pledged to support the Energy Saving Charter 2017, and commits to maintaining an average indoor temperature between 24-26°C during the summer months of June to September 2017. Moreover, the University will switch off electrical appliances and systems when not in use and acquire energy efficient appliances. It will also pour efforts to engage the University community to adopt energy saving practices.
The Energy Saving Charter is launched by the Environment Bureau and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. It aims to encourage businesses and community organizations to save energy. Over 3,300 premises signed up to the Charter in 2016 and PolyU was one among them.
