RPg students are required to pay an annual tuition fee as specified here to PolyU during the Normal Period of Study. If an RPg student fails to settle the tuition fee by the last day for payment specified in the debit note, he/she will be considered as having decided not to continue his/her RPg study at PolyU. PolyU will remove his/her registration status from the RPg programme concerned accordingly.
Tuition fees paid are non-refundable except under the following circumstances:
For RPg students admitted from the 2017/18 cohorts onwards |
For RPg students admitted in or before the 2016/17 cohort |
If an RPg student has settled his/her tuition fee for the next semester and his/her application for (a) change of mode of study or (b) deferment of study being approved before the commencement of the next semester, he/she will be entitled for the tuition fee refund.
Early Completion of Study If an RPg student manages to have his/her award approved by the Graduate School Board (GSB) before the end of the normal period of study, he/she will be charged tuition fees up to the date of approval for his/her award by GSB. Any balance of tuition fees paid for the period after the date of approval for his/her award by GSB will be refunded to him/her. |
Change of Mode of Study When a FT RPg student changes to PT study, the amount of FT tuition fees he/she paid will normally exceed the amount of PT tuition. The outstanding amount paid will be converted to a pro-rata payment of the next instalment of PT tuition fees.
Deferment of Study If an RPg student has received approval to defer his/her studies, he/she will have the unused portion of his/her tuition fee refunded. As the tuition fee may be revised each year, when resuming his/her studies after the deferment period, the student concerned will have to pay the prevailing tuition fee.
De-registration An RPg student who is de-registered by PolyU because of a lack of progress will be entitled to a cash refund of any unused tuition fee.
Early Submission of Thesis If an RPg student manages to submit his/her thesis to GS before the end of the normal period of study, he/she will be charged tuition fees up to the thesis submission date as long as he/she is not receiving a Postgraduate Scholarship. Any balance of tuition fees paid for the period after the thesis submission date will be refunded to him/her. |
