- RPg students may only retake a subject which they have failed (i.e., Grade F or U).
- The number of retakes of a subject should be restricted to two (i.e., a maximum of three attempts for each subject is allowed).
- The second retake of a failed subject requires the approval from the FRC/SB Chair.
- RPg students who have failed a compulsory subject after two retakes and have been de-registered can submit an appeal to the Academic Appeals Committee (AAC) for a third chance of retaking the subject.
- In relation to Point 4 above, in case the AAC does not approve further retakes of a failed compulsory subject or the taking of an equivalent subject with special approval from the Faculty/School Board, the student concerned would be de-registered and the decision of the AAC would be final within PolyU.
- Departments may impose more stringent regulations on the retaking of particular types of subjects, e.g., practicum, clinical placement. RPg students should be duly informed.
