Global Youth Leaders Summit 2019 sparkles in Hong Kong!
“Global Youth Leaders Summit 2019: Transforming VISION into ACTION through SOCIAL INNOVATION” was held from 13 to 18 July this year by PolyU’s Global Youth Leadership and Service-learning Institute (GYLSLI). Over 100 participants from 41 universities and 27 different countries / regions across the globe joined to exchange their ideas about the social issues, and what their actions mean in the critical position of transforming the world to a better place.
This year’s theme “Transforming VISION into ACTION through SOCIAL INNOVATION”, provided students with distinguished keynote lectures, workshops on design thinking, local site visits. The students came up with innovative project ideas based on the three sub-themes: Poverty Alleviation, Sustainable Communities and Quality Education for All. Their ideas were presented in Global Youth Leaders Competition.
Innovative ideas brought out by the end of the summit at the Global Youth Leaders Competition where they investigated into societal needs in a global context. The summit also opened up opportunities for these ideas to be developed and actualised with the support from the Seed Foundation, who gave generous support in helping students implement and actualise their entrepreneurships.
The summit has invited global leaders and experts to share with the participating youth leaders their vision, experience and pioneering efforts in finding solutions to various global challenges. They include Professor Po Chung, co-founder of DHL International, Mr. Bunker Roy, the founder and director of The Barefoot College, Dato Dr. Kim Tan, founder and chairman of the Springhill Management Ltd.
