Biography

Dr. Jin has been working actively in the inter-disciplinary research fields between environmental chemistry, toxicology, and microbiology. His ongoing research includes air pollution and human health, airborne and foodborne transmission of antimicrobial resistance and pathogens, and pollution-induced immunosuppression in marine megafauna. His development of novel passive sampling and bioanalytical tools to assess combined effects of chemical mixtures in dugongs and marine turtles won him Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry/Procter & Gamble Global Doctoral Fellowship for Environmental Research in 2014. His recent work on mixture toxicity assessment of airborne fine particulate matter attracted the attention from Nature, where he contributed an invited comment on global disparities of air-pollution health effects. His study on airborne transmission of antibiotic resistance genes was recognized as one of the best papers in Environmental Science and Technology Letters in 2018. Jin was an Editorial Board Member of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. He is currently an Editorial Board Member of ACS Environmental Au and The Innovation. He also serves as a Guest Editor for Environmental Science and Technology for the special issue on urban air pollution and human health.
