Staff Awarded Research Excellence

Prof Cathy Hsu , Associate Head, received the Michael D. Olsen Research Achievement Award at the 11th Annual Graduate Education and Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in Seattle , Washington , US , earlier this year. Awarded by the University of Delaware , the award annually recognises scholars who have made a significant contribution, through clear, sustained and focused research supported by funding, to publications and presentations leading to important contributions to the body of knowledge of hospitality and tourism.
Prof Stephen Witt , Visiting Professor , and Prof Haiyan Song , Associate Head , won the Journal Article Excellence Award 2004 of Tourism Economics with their paper entitled  Forecasting Tourism-generated Employment: the Case of Denmark .
Dr Samuel Seongseop Kim , Visiting Research Fellow at SHTM, was named in his home university Sejong University in Korea as the Most Outstanding Research Professor. Dr Kim joined Sejong University in spring 2000 as a full-time lecturer and became an Associate Professor with early promotion. He is the Director of Tourism Industry Research Institute at Sejong University and is currently visiting SHTM for one year as a Research Fellow.
