SHTM Staff and Students on Board the Floating University

Have you ever dreamed of studying at a floating university that would allow you to experience different countries during the course of study? The MV Explorer , a 24,000-tonne passenger ship housing the Semester at Sea (SAS) programme, docked in Hong Kong for two days in April. Dr Simon Hudson, Associate Professor in tourism management at the University of Calgary in Canada and currently on sabbatical and as a visiting professor on the SAS programme, visited our School while the ship was here. He delivered a seminar to SHTM staff and students about his experiences with the SAS programme and the concept of this “floating university”. More than 700 students are currently enrolled in this spring semester's SAS programme. SHTM staff and students also had the opportunity to visit the ship after the seminar.
