Skyscrapers are major energy consumers. Can you imagine how much energy is needed to heat or to cool a gigantic architecture like that? Professor Wang Shengwei, Department of Building Services Engineering, came up with an optimal control tool for air conditioning system in skyscrapers to achieve higher energy efficiency and better indoor environment. The tool is fully compatible with building automation system and has been running in Hong Kong’s International Commerce Centre (ICC) saving over 7.0 million kWh of energy each year.
