With the vast diversity of human talents, it is impracticable for educators to focus on all of them given the limitation of time and resources. Certain kinds of talents are therefore more likely to be neglected when their explicit traits appear to deviate from the desirable ones.
In response to such dilemma, IHERD, in collaboration with the Educational Development Centre (EDC), conducted a seminar entitled “From ‘White Space’ to ‘Black Space’ - China’s Approach in Cultivating Innovative Talents” on 9 December 2024. We were honoured to have invited Prof ZHENG Quanshui as our guest speaker.
During the seminar, Prof ZHENG introduced the current stance of China in the cultivation of talents, and the type of talents that are vital to the rapidly developing nation. His insightful method of talent identification and innovative pedagogical approach were the key to enabling talents that would otherwise be neglected to become some of the best in their respective fields. The discussions that followed shred lights to the different perspectives to the pedagogical approach.
